You will visit with Dr. Olson for the majority of your appointment. Because our practice is led by just one dentist, you’ll never get swapped around for some other professional.

Happy Visits at Olson Family Dentistry
Bring your children in with you to your own dental appointments to help them get used to the office. We recommend you bring your child in for their own visit around their third birthday. There is no charge for this appointment, which we call a happy visit. Dr. Olson will take a look at your little one’s teeth, and brush them if that’s ok. We won’t push anything your child is uncomfortable with. If any issues are detected, we may recommend you visit a children’s dentist. We’ll provide a trusted referral for excellent care if so.
As your child gets older, they will benefit from two additional preventive treatments. Young children are most vulnerable to cavities and tooth infection between their sixth and 15th birthdays. Dental sealants and fluoride treatments help to protect young tooth enamel from decay.
Dental sealants are thin, translucent coverings that are painted onto the surface of the back teeth. Molars are covered in nooks and crannies that can be difficult to thoroughly clean. Food particles, bacteria, plaque, and tartar buildup accelerates the rate of decay. But dental sealants shield the tooth enamel from these destructive particles for years of protection against cavities and infection.
Dr. Olson will evaluate your child’s need for fluoride treatments. The mineral is well-known for its benefits in oral health. A quick application of fluoride, completed at the end of a checkup and cleaning, strengthens teeth against the acids and bacteria that cause decay.
